How a bangle differs from a chain bracelet
A bangle is a rigid, round bracelet that keeps its shape, unlike a chain or link bracelet, which drapes softly around the wrist and sits close. At Longvé, all bangles are cast in solid 14 karat gold, so they sit like a firm ring around the arm instead of hanging down. The rigid shape means the bracelet does not adapt to the circumference of the wrist the way a chain bracelet does, which makes choosing the right size more important. In return, it gives a clean, geometric look that sits stably and does not slide down over the back of the hand under a cuff. If you are instead looking for the flexible type, you will find them under chain bracelet and the broader bracelet collection.
Gold bangle in a yellow or white shade
Each design is available in two metals: 14K yellow gold with its warm, classic gold colour, and 14K white gold with a cooler, silver-like tone. The yellow shade highlights the diamonds with contrast and suits warm skin tones, while the white gold gives a more discreet, modern look. The diamonds are the same in both; only the metal colour changes. If you want to see the two shades grouped separately, they are available under gold and white gold.
Bezel or pavé as the diamond setting
The collection's bangles are available in two settings, each giving its own look. A bezel bangle has diamonds set individually in a closed metal rim all the way around, which gives a clean and robust look where the stones sit well protected. Here the stone weight is 0.29 carat spread across the bracelet. A pavé bangle has more closely set, smaller stones that cover the surface with more sparkle, and here the total stone weight is 0.90 carat. The bezel version is the more subdued of the two, while the pavé version stands out more strikingly in the light. Both settings can be seen alongside the rest of the range under bezel jewellery and prong jewellery.
Natural or lab-grown diamonds for the same design
The same two designs are available both with natural diamonds and with lab-grown diamonds. A lab-grown diamond has the same chemical and optical properties as a natural diamond and is grown in a laboratory rather than being mined. To the eye there is no visible difference, and the choice is mostly about price and preference. If you want to read more about what distinguishes the two, what are lab-grown diamonds goes through the differences, and the entire selection of grown stones is available under lab-grown diamonds.
How to find the right size
Because a bangle is rigid, the size determines how loosely or snugly it sits, and whether it can be taken off and put on at all. Bangles in the collection are available in 16, 17, 18 and 19 cm, and the pavé versions start at 17 cm. The measurement corresponds to the circumference of the wrist: Place a tape measure around your wrist just above the wrist bone, where a bracelet normally rests, and read off the circumference in centimetres. A rigid bangle must be able to pass over the back of the hand, so you typically choose the same measurement as your wrist circumference, or slightly more if you have a wide hand. If you want it to sit close and still, choose the nearest size up; if you want a bit more movement and sound, go one size larger. If you are in doubt between two sizes, the choice mostly depends on whether you prefer a tight or a looser look.
A wide, firm bracelet for everyday wear and stacking
A solid bangle works as a fixed element you can wear all the time, because it has no clasp that can catch, and because the gold withstands daily use. It can be worn alone as a single, defined piece of jewellery or stacked several at a time for a fuller look on the arm. If you combine a bezel and a pavé bangle, you get both calm and sparkle in the same stack. If you want to mix the rigid bangle with a soft, flexible bracelet, you will find the slim models under thin bracelets, and the entire bracelet range for stacking is available under bracelets for women.
