What did you dream about as a child?
I’ve always been a big dreamer – this included everything from wanting to be a nurse to a fighter pilot in the Army. However, my goal was and is still just to be happy.
What key experience impacted you to move in the direction you are moving today?
The moment I truly started believing in myself. This was not a from-one-day-to-the-other moment, but hard and dedicated work resulting in a series of events leading to where I am today.
What choice that you’ve made in your life are you most proud of, and why?
When I was 18, I signed a contract with the Danish Army to start compulsory military training after finishing high school. This was something different – which entailed stepping out of my comfort zone to become a better version of myself. I was made aware of my strengths and weaknesses, and most importantly, the power of the mind. Looking back, this was definitely one of the best and most challenging experiences in my life, which has shaped the person I am today.
What choice has been the easiest, and why?
To buy my first road bike, despite not at all knowing what I was getting myself into. I’ve always been fascinated by the sport and thought I might as well give it a go. Since Denmark was in full lockdown at that time, I found myself seeking new opportunities and adventures.
"Sacrifice might mean giving up something good for something even better to come along.”
What has been the hardest choice you’ve taken, and why?
To drop out of my first education. Looking back now, I know it was the right decision, but at the time it seemed way more complex and difficult. This is due to me not wanting to quit once I’ve begun something, which is something that has been rooted in me ever since I was a little girl. Sacrifice might mean giving up something good for something even better to come along.
How do you find inspiration and confidence to step out of your comfort zone?
I seek inspiration everywhere – relationships, family, friends, colleagues, and so on. I’ve found, that the key is to surround yourself with people who can lift you up, cheer you on and support you on your personal journey - for the rest of your life.
Working on self-love daily is the way forward to building confidence. This might imply setting realistic short- and long-term goals, and celebrating the small victories. Have faith in the process, and let your intuition and feelings be the main drivers.
What personal characteristics do people most often use to describe you?
People often describe me as positive, energetic, and passionate.
How do you feel these unique characteristics have impacted your way in life?
I always tend to look on the bright side of life – seeing the cup as half full instead of half empty. Therefore I fill my life with whatever I am passionate about, which thereby tends to reflect on my well-being in all other aspects of my life. Energy comes from within and is something I’m very cautious about. You can change other people's moods solely based on the energy you project – that’s something to think about.
“Listen to your gut feeling. This has helped me overcome every difficult decision in my life.”
What is your best advice to others who would like to feel more comfortable about making personal choices?
Listen to your gut feeling. This has helped me overcome every difficult decision in my life. And know that it’s okay to fail or make the wrong decision, as long as you get back on track and try again. Afterall, we’re all just human.
