The 4Cs

Choosing a diamond is about understanding what truly matters.
The 4 Cs guide you to balance beauty, quality, and personal preference.

The Cut

Cut defines how a diamond reflects light — and is the most important factor in its overall brilliance. When proportions are precise, light is reflected internally and returned through the top of the stone, creating its signature sparkle.

A well-cut diamond appears more radiant, while a poorly cut stone can appear darker and less lively. Cut also influences how large a diamond appears, as precise proportions can enhance its visual presence without increasing its carat weight.

Cut defines how a diamond reflects light — but also its overall form and proportions. From classic round to more distinctive shapes like oval, pear or emerald, each choice creates a different expression in both light and silhouette.

At longvé, our lab-grown diamonds are cut to the highest standard, Excellent, ensuring optimal proportions and a refined, luminous appearance — and are available in a range of carefully selected shapes, allowing you to choose the one that feels right for you.

The Carat (Weight)

Carat defines the size and presence of a diamond. It is the unit used to measure diamonds, where one carat equals 200 milligrams. As the carat weight increases, so does the size and visual presence of the diamond.

When a piece features multiple diamonds, the total carat weight is stated, and in some cases also the weight of the center stone.

At longvé, we offer a wide range of carat sizes, allowing you to choose a diamond that reflects your personal preference — whether subtle or more statement in expression.

The Color

Colour refers to how white or colourless a diamond appears. The grading scale ranges from D to Z, where D represents completely colourless diamonds, and increasing letters indicate a warmer tone.

Diamonds in the D–F range are considered colourless, while G–H are near colourless. To the untrained eye, the difference between these grades is minimal — even when viewed side by side.

Diamonds at longvé typically selected within the Top Wesselton / Wesselton range (F–H), known for their bright and near colourless appearance. This range offers a refined balance between quality and value, with differences that are rarely visible to the naked eye. We can also source diamonds across a wider range of colour grades, tailored to individual preferences.

The Clarity

Clarity refers to the purity of a diamond, defined by the presence of natural inclusions formed during its creation. These can appear as tiny internal marks or characteristics, which may affect how light travels through the stone.

Clarity is graded on a scale from Flawless (FL) to Included (I), depending on the size, number, and visibility of these inclusions. In higher clarity grades, inclusions are extremely minimal and often invisible to the naked eye.

At longvé, our diamonds are typically selected in the within the VS and SI range. This means any inclusions are extremely subtle and only visible under magnification, resulting in a clean, refined appearance with exceptional brilliance while maintaining a balanced approach to quality and value. Diamonds across a wider range of clarity grades can also be sourced, depending on your preference.
